The CITIRAIL (CREX) GEVO

Citicorp Railmark Inc. (trading as Citirail Express or CREX) is best known for leasing locomotives to the BNSF Railway and some of the sharpest, cleanest, flashiest locomotives on the rails of North America today are the CITIRAIL GEVOs.

Currently these are 100 GE ES44ACs that Citirail/CREX acquired for lease service. They’re painted (silver?) gray with blue & yellow nose striping, blue numbers and a black underframe. Most of these units, if not all of these units, are leased to and serving on the BNSF.

And although these locomotives are becoming more popular by the day, they’re still a rare sight to see, especially outside of BNSF territory.
