Erie Railroad Mile Markers…. Get Up, Get Out And Go Shoot Em’ While You Still Can

Like so many vestiges of 20th century railroading that are vanishing, the original Erie Railroad mile markers along Norfolk Southern‘s New York Southern Tier line are fading into history. The concrete, obelisk shaped markers were engraved with “JC” and a number. The digit denotes the mileage from the Erie’s Pavonia Avenue Terminal in Jersey City, NJ. NS has been removing these cultural landmarks along Erie’s tracks but as of this writing there’s still some out there to enjoy so get up, get out and go shoot the authentic Erie concrete mile markers while you still can.
