AOK & AOKX…. Probably Not Who You Thought

You’ve probably seen freight cars roaming the rails with the AOK & AOKX reporting mark. If you’ve ever researched their origin then your search would lead you to the Arkansas-Oklahoma Railroad but in reality the name you should associate with them is Greenbrier Leasing.

It seems that Greenbrier approached the AOK about using their reporting mark for its lease fleet of railcars…. Thousands upon thousands of em’…. And that’s pretty much how the story goes. All of those railcars that you see with the AOK & AOKX reporting marks are actually owned and leased out by Greenbrier…. The AOK Railroad does have some freight cars of its own, they number about 15 or so!
