Erie Lackawanna Heritage Unit #1700 And Sister #1701 @ Port Reading Yard, NJ

Some guys get all the luck!… Take Mike for instance who stumbled upon these two beauties while driving past the Port Reading, NJ yard. Note that the #1701 (still in a somewhat “pure state” minus the black paint, of course) has its horn mounted in the original location on the right side of the cab while the rebuilt #1700 has an air conditioner on the cab. They were just sitting there with a short train of about 10 cars, waiting in the snow for someone to come along and take notice…. Fortunately for us, someone did!
