Morristown & Erie-operated Maine Eastern ceased tourist/passenger operations on the former Maine Central Rockland Branch effective December 31, 2015. On January 1, 2016 the Central Maine & Quebec Railway assumed operations sans the tourist/passenger part of things. Morristown and Erie Railroad brought their EMD FL9s back to NJ. These are ex-New Haven, ex-Amtrak and two of the few FL9s still running anywhere. Noone’s really sure what the railroad will do with them now but for the time being, they’re being stored just outside of Morristown in Hanover, NJ where our friend Mike recorded these photos. The equipment that returned to the Morristown & Erie included GP10 #764 and the FL9s #488 and #489.
