An Hour @ Taylor Yard

Had a little bit of time on my hands so I decided to stop by the Taylor Yard to see what (if anything) was going on…. The yard was empty of train movement when I got there but it wasn’t long before the throbbing of EMD horsepower started echoing from the south side. Before long, the boxy, black-face of SD40-2 #3468¬†and SD70M-2 #2661 trailing lead a short local into the yard for processing. The cars that got my attention on this turn were the Reading & Northern open hoppers which were visibly loaded with anthracite coal…. Sadly, despite growing up in northeast Pa., was something I’d never seen before.
