The Brandywine Valley Railroad (BVRY) is a class 3 shortline established by the Lukens Steel Company in 1981 to operate trackage at Coatesville, Pa. and the town of Modena. It was acquired, with the rest of the Lukens properties, by Bethlehem Steel Corporation in 1998 and under the Bethlehem operation, took over operation of the Delaware Valley Railroad in early 1999 giving the railroad interchange access to Conrail (later Norfolk Southern) at Coatesville and CSX at Elsmere, Delaware. It also operated a connecting branch of the former Pennsylvania Railroad from Chadds Ford, Pa. to Nottingham, Pa..

After the acquisition of Bethlehem Steel’s assets by International Steel Group (ISG) circa 2003-2005, the railroad and steel plant were taken over by Mittal Steel Company which became ArcelorMittal in 2006.
