Minnesota, Dakota & Western (MDW & IBT)
Ex-MDW boxcar patched for the Providence & Worcester Railroad.
And if you’re wondering where you’ve seen that green boxcar before think “Boise Cascade.” The IBT reporting mark stands for theĀ International Bridge and Terminal Company which itself is actually the Minnesota, Dakota & Western (MDW).
The MDW is a small (4 miles) but busy paper hauling road in Minnesota that interchanges with the Canadian National and has a whopping car fleet of over 3,000 cars!
Originally a subsidiary of Boise Cascade and created to serve its paper mills, the MDW was incorporated as the IBT in 1902.
