The Tomahawk Railway (TR) is a Class 3 short line that operates 6 miles of track and provides daily service to the pulpboard mill at Wisconsin Dam which is owned by the Packaging Corporation of America, and its own 105,000-square-foot warehouse located in the town of Tomahawk. From its beginnings, the main purpose of the railroad was to serve the timber and paper mills in the area with its (then) connection to the world via the Chicago & North Western. In 2005, Genesee & Wyoming Inc. bought the line, renamed it the Tomahawk Railway and grouped it with its other rail enterprises. Today, the TR handles over eight thousand carloads annually with its new connection with the Canadian National Railway at Tomahawk.
