Huron And Eastern Railway (HESR)
The Huron and Eastern Railway (HESR) is a Shortline operating approximately 384 miles of track in The Thumb and Flint/Tri-Cities area of Michigan and it’s the first railroad that was owned by RailAmerica (itself now owned by Genessee & Wyoming). Its headquarters is in the former Michigan Central Railroad depot in Vassar and its main line extends northeast from Saginaw to Bad Axe, and then southeast to Croswell where it also interchanges with Saginaw Bay Southern.
Its other line extends from Midland east to Bay City and then south through Saginaw to Durand. The line was the former Central Michigan and Grand Trunk Western track. HESR interchanges with Canadian National and Regional Great Lakes Central Railroad in Durand.
